    • Task #11 is available and due at the end of the week. The mid-term exam has been cancelled. I will provide details about a final exam closer to semester's end. I'm working on evaluating your essays. More soon.
  • Wednesday, April 2, 2014
    • Task #10 is now "live" and ready for your work. I've updated the due date to next Tuesday, April 8, 2014.
    • I'm still catching up on things from break, so the mid-term will be delayed at least one week. More on that soon.
    • I'll be traveling with students to a conference tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday (April 3-5). Please expect email responses to be somewhat delayed.
  • Monday, March 31, 2014
    • The next regular task will be posted soon. In the meantime, you may (in fact, should) begin work on Essay #1. The details are posted and you may begin drafting now. The essay is due no later than 11:59 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2014.
    • If there is a desire for it, we'll arrange peer review groups.
  • Monday, March 17, 2014
  • Thursday, March 13, 2014
    • Task #7, with a due date of Sunday, March 16 (earlier responses are welcome), is now available. You should begin work on it today.
  • Monday, March 10, 2014
    • Though the mid-term exam is some three weeks away yet, please do begin preparing for it by reading and re-reading the materials required for the tasks. That is to say, the primary sources for the exam will be the textbook, The Art of Being Human, and the other readings I've provided as online handouts.
  • Wednesday, March 5, 2014
    • Task #5 is now available on the course site (you may have to refresh the page to see the update). Due its tardy appearance here, I've extended the due date to Sunday evening. Earlier submission are welcome.
  • Monday, February 24, 2014
    • Partners for part two of Task #1 are now posted on the task page (near the bottom).
      • If your name does not appear on that page, it means that I do not have a response to part one from you. Please contact me ASAP if that is the case.
  • Wednesday, February 19, 2014
    • The "additional texts" list has been updated with MANY more texts and quite a number of non-US options. Please take another look today.
    • The syllabus quiz will be available after more folks have had a chance to get into the course pages and get oriented. Watch for an announcement about it in this space soon.
  • Tuesday, February 18, 2014
    • Welcome to the course. You should begin Task #1 now. You will also do well to start the reading for Task #2 now. Check those due dates.
    • Further tasks will be coming online in the next few days. Stay tuned.
  • Monday, February 17, 2014
    • This is the main course page*. You will do well to check here often (daily is wise).
    • Please begin with the syllabus pages. Start with the overview page and then click through to each of the remaining syllabus pages. There will be a quiz.
    • When it is complete, the schedule page will show you an over view of the course content and pacing.

So What is This About?

*This course site is being adapted from another course. Please forgive occasional references you may see to an American Literature course or to a mythology course. If you see such, I'd be grateful if you would contact me about them so they can be updated or removed.
